-Jack and James in winter wear-

Gift

-a boot-

-a hand holding a bottle-

-James, in civilian clothing, slouching back and drinking-

-sidelong glance-

-close up of mouth-

"Sparrow."

-Sparrow walks out from behind a few crates-

-climbs onto james' crate-

"When'd ye notice?"

-a smirk-

"Since the start."

-Sparrow looks at the bottle-

-James' eyes-

-James hands the bottle over-

"Shouldn't you be visiting the Turners'?"

-Jack drinks-

"Bit late in the night, an' they be wantin' some privacy."

-James looks to the side-

-Jack hands the bottle back-

"'Sides, thought it'd be a bit o' a shame if ye spent yer birthday by yer ownsies."

-James smirks, taking the bottle-

"How did you know?"

-A drink-

"Lots o' things ‘bout ye are public knowledge t'pirates."

"Oh."

-Jack glances at him-

"Ye look good wi'out the wig."

-James arches an eyebrow-

"Are you hitting on me?"

-Jack grins-

"If I was, I'd say somethin' like… ‘If ye've lost yer virginity, can I have the box it came in?'"

-James chokes-

"Good Lord. No wonder you get slapped so often."

-Jack grins-

"Got ye laughin', didn't it?"

-James smirks-

-Jack drinks-

"So. What'd ye say if ye were tryin' t'pick someone up?"

-James frowns-

-James lowers his head, with a smirk-

"I'd say, ‘So, what haven't you been told tonight?'"

-Jack grins-

"Cute, sweet, but I have better. ‘Baby, we're like two banks, we should merge.'"

-James laughs-

"What about ‘Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?'"

-Jack arches an eyebrow-

"Heard that one before. What ‘bout ‘Let's go t'me place, an' do the things I'd tell everyone we did anyway'."

-James, bottle-

" ‘Did the sun come up, or did you just smile?'"

-Jack, faint smile-

"Funny, that's what I think every time ye do it."

-James, open mouthed-

-James looks away-

"Don't tell me you looked for me on my birthday just to exchange pick up lines."

-Jack reaches into a pocket-

"No. T'was t'give ye a present."

-James blinks-

"But I've never given…"

-Jack pushes box into his hands-

"Doesn't matter."

-James frowns at the box-

"It has breathing holes."

-Jack looks innocent-

"Why not ye open it?"

-James frowns-

"What is it?"

-Jack raises a hand-

"Whatever ye do, don't shake it."

-James looks into the box-

-James closes the box quickly-

-James holding Jack by his collar-

"Sparrow…."

-Jack grinned-

"Like it?"

-The box opens… it's a baby alligator with a bow-

-James glares at Jack-

"Explain."

-Jack smirks-

"The color o' its scales ain't a touch on' yer eyes, pretty bird."

-James glares at him-

-Jack grins-

"Don't like it?"

-James peering at the alligator-

"Good Lord. Jack, I can't keep… this… in Port Royal."

-Jack picks up the creature-

"It's a miniature. Very rare species, mate. See, some natives ‘round an island hereabouts made me their chief, an' they…"

-James rubs his eyes-

"I don't think I've drunk enough cognac for this."

-the alligator squeaks (hunger?)-

-James watching it eat fish, in his home-

"Thanks. I suppose."

-Jack smirks-

"Don't mention it. Everybody should get somethin' on their birthday."

-James looks flustered-

"I still feel I should… I don't have anything that..."

-Jack grins-

"Sure ye do."

-James blinks-

"What?"

-Jack leans in and kisses James-

-frames of tongues-

-Jack grins when they turn away-

"Thanks for the gift, Jamie."

-James looks stunned-

-Wry smile-

"You're welcome."

Evil panels:
"Gift arrived for ye, cap'n."

-Jack unwraps-

-Jack in black mood, shocked!Gibbs holding up a maid's uniform-

"Dear Jack, Happy Birthday. I hope you find this just as appropriate as the alligator. –James"
