My travels
OK, so not all my travels are ... shall we say ... in the physical realm, but more a spiritual one
Places I've been:
Michigan
Canada
- Georgian Bay, Ont., where my husband and I spent a foggy week on our sailboat
- Hull, Quebec, a French-settled town where my grandfather married for the second time, at the age of 73 (she, a mere girl of 68)
- Kincardine, Ontario, a Scottish settlement
- Niagra Falls, Ontario (much prettier than the U.S. side of the falls)
- Vancouver, B.C.
- Toronto, Ontario
UK
Virginia Beach, Va.
Florida
- Miami, Fla. (where I never toured, only flew in twice, and stayed one night)
- Key West, which I liked a lot, and have visited twice. Drive the keys sometime, and do visit the home of Ernest Hemingway.
- St. Augustine, one of the oldest forts in North America
- Disney World, a place I never need to visit again (went there when I was 9) but a lot of other people seem to love it there
Massachusetts
Colorado
Texas
- Austin
- Galveston (where occurrences of rape are more frequent than the tourist bureau lets on)
- Houston
Mexico
- Cancun/Cozumel
- The Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza
Places I'd like to go (in no particular order):
Mount Everest
Not a place I plan to go soon, by the way ...
Ever since I heard Jon Krakauer talking on NPR's "Fresh Air" show (broadcast on Wayne State University's WDET), I've been morbidly fascinated by the story of the deaths on Everest in 1996. So while I don't really want to go there myself, I offer these fascinating links to Mount Everest:
