'Light and Darkness' Challenge - 22. November '04/31. January '05 
Alright Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for a new challenge. The theme is Light and Darkness and it will include both fanfiction and fanart (thanks to Marcus)!Fanfiction Well, the Jack Sparrow we know and love has seldom been on the angst ridden, denying, self-loathing side of homoerotic debauchery. So we want you to imagine.. what if Jack had indeed a problem with his feelings and his desire for another man? What'ye sayin', impossible? It's not like we were going to make it easy for you, hehe. And to flavour the whole thing a bit, you can choose between comedy and drama (or do both, if you like): Comedy/Light Honestly, even the thought of Jack 'Flamboyant' Sparrow having serious trouble with swaying out of the closet makes me giggle. And I'm sure you will be able to cause a full laughing fit. ;) You are free to make whatever your heart desires out of the tropic, but just in case you are in need of some inspiration I asked around and collected some plotbunnies:
This part of the challenge was provided by Jana and because she's a bad girl she wants it dark. And when I say dark, I mean absolutely pitch-black. Remember what the law said about homosexuality back in the 18th century; think about the entire religious, moral and social restrains deeply implanted in people's minds and hearts. What would you think of yourself, confronted with feelings that must not be? What kind of emotions would you develop towards the person who made you feel like this in the first place? Longing, despair.. even hate or aggression? What if James would/had to make it very clear what he thinks about Jack's "misguided" emotions? Almost forgot the movie-Jack who used to balance on the thin red line between light and darkness..? The long and the short of it is that you may feel free to dig up all that dark and perverted stuff you never dared to put into your PotC-fic. >;) Angst, homophobia, general political impropriety, violence, non-con*, character death, give it here! *Different to Jana the archivist has always had a slight problem with non-con elements in fanfiction. So after a heated argument we agreed on the term of "politically correct non-con". *g* Means, there is either a sadomasochistic-motivated situation with both characters more or less enjoying the whole thing or someone is raped and is definitely not enjoying it! Just make sure to draw a line there because your's truely is tired of reading about rape victims secretly getting off on being literally ripped open. Fanart There is no special guideline other than that you picture (drawing, photomanip, gif..) should be either humorous/funny or sad/dramatic. Again, anything goes: PWP, drabbles (at least 500 words), epics, any length, any rating. The challenge will be running from 22. November '04 - 31. January '05. The winners of the fanfiction as well as the fanart category will each receive a nice and shiny replica of the Aztec Gold Coin featured in the movie. No real gold of course, but they look rather fancy nonetheless. ;-) So if you like to take part, send your fic or/and fanart to sparrington_slash@yahoo.de under "Light and Darkness-Challenge".
