The Love of My Life
by Patt Paulos-Darrow
Who would have thought, that five years ago, we would still be in love.
I can't even remember what was on top of our cake, a couple or a dove.
It doesn't matter if we remember, it only matters that we still care.
And in all games of love, that seems only fitting and fair.
I still see the man that I married, that day.
You looked at me and knew just what to say.
You have loved me through thick and thin.
No one could love you more than I do, from within.
We had many hard years, and I didn't think we would make it at all.
Now, I look back and remember that a lot of the times we were having a ball.
We may have had some bad times, but we took them with the good.
It has turned out fine, as we knew it always would.
We have so much in common, loving the same things.
With each year, we watch to see what it brings.
I shall love you forever, and that is a long while.
When I watch you read this, I know you will smile.
