Take A Breath
by Patt Paulos-Darrow
Take a breath and know that you are alive.
Things will be better tomorrow.
Nothing is ever as bad as it seems right now.
Tomorrow it will seem less terrifying.
Just keep breathing, slowing, in and out.
It is okay, Blair, shooting someone is not a good thing.
But you handled it perfectly.
You didn't panic.
Everything done by the book.
Why is it that you can't breathe going home, then?
Are you sorry you did this?
Do you feel like I forced you in any way?
Please don't breathe that hard.
Slow breaths are better.
We will work through this.
You can think on it and decide if you want this for a life.
I admire everything about you.
Now it is time for me to try to breathe.
We both are scared.
Things will get better, please wait and see, Blair.
