Taming The Savage
by Patt Paulos-Darrow
A savage has taken my heart.
Violence shares my thoughts.
Thinking of what I want and how I want it.
Good thoughts would never be here.
Instead dark ones are left in their place.
Hatred has come here and stayed.
Fear is my best friend.
No room for love, my life is too dreary.
Darkness falling around me.
Can't talk to him.
I am afraid for him.
I will hurt him.
This is in my nature.
Dread has become my new partner.
Hating the feelings I have, but not being able to control them.
No longer able to see things the way they are.
Help needed, but not being able to ask for it.
One person can change things.
The darkness is lifting.
Fear is being replaced by longing.
Dread is not an option. He is.
Violence taken over by kindness.
Hatred pushed aside by love.
He is a tamer of savages.
He is walking life for me.
We will try.
We will love.
