Telling The Truth
by Patt Paulos-Darrow
What happens when someone at work asks if you are in love with your partner?
Well, you might feel like you have to tell the truth and do the right thing.
We are out now, they all know and some of the people aren't taking it well.
Our friends are all standing behind us, we could not ask for anything more.
And the ones that are making ugly remarks don't matter to us.
But I have seen the tears in his eyes, as we walk by and he hears the remarks.
I can't hear them, thankfully I am not the Sentinel.
And he bears that burden without really wanting to share it with me.
I am a cop now too, so we will just have to rely on each other.
I am his backup and he in return is mine.
He is my life, and I am his.
We don't care what they are saying, well, maybe we do care somewhat.
But we have to be strong and learn to deal with it.
They are afraid of anything new, they can't really be blamed.
As long as our friends are still behind us, then that is all we care about.
And we have been blessed with some great friends.
We are indeed happy, and if they aren't, they can get a grip.
We love each other and this is not going to change for anything.
