Blair's Prayer

by Winds-of-Dawn

- an addendum to Remembrance -

Jim is asleep. I am wide awake.
The anger inside me will not be calmed.
How dare a father call his son a freak?
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
Well, right now I wish William Ellison was burning in hell.
How dare a father disbelieve his son?
How dare a father deny his son's gifts?
"I only wanted the best for you," he says.
Well go to hell, Mr. Ellison.
Your good intentions hurt Jim more than a thousand words of hate.
I pray there is a God in this Universe who forgives you, for I can't.
I pray there is a God in this Universe who is merciful, for I'm not.
For all the tears Jim needed to shed and couldn't,
For all the times he needed comfort and was denied,
For all the times he needed acceptance and was rejected,
May God forgive you, William Ellison, for I just -- can't.
