Sentinel
-- a haiku sequence --

by Winds-of-Dawn

Sunlight shines
On dark curls dripping
Tears on grass

Harsh lights glare
On soft voice choking
False words true

Night beckons
To man in mirror
Who am I?

Wind whispers
To soul in jungle
Fear kills

Close your eyes
Take a breath, and jump
Water's nice

Sentinels
Always had someone
A partner

A Sentinel
Always has someone
A partner

Note: A haiku usually has three lines, of 5, 7 and 5 syllables respectively, but these consist of lines of 3, 5 and 3 syllables, with some irregularites. IMO, the shorter format better reflects the terseness inherent in Japanese haiku.
