Wombat is a short hairy nosed marsupial weighing approximately 40 pounds and about two feet in length. When not digging for grubs and roots, she sporadically writes fanfic, although not as fast as people seem to want her to. While most recently dipping her short, clawed toes into the dark waters of Phantom Menace fanfic, her first love remains that special relationship between angst-filled FBI agent and bald, surly boss.
Her writing career began shortly after she discovered
slash, an event which itself occurred only shortly after her discovery
of that wonderful invention known as the internet. After running
though several fandoms in short order, beginning with DueSouth and DS9,
she discovered the X-Files, although she was handicapped by not really
remembering who either Skinner or Krycek
actually were. After borrowing a few videos
and reading most of the X-files fanfic out there, she recalls a dawning
sense of puzzlement. 'Why are they all so horrible to Mulder?' she
asked herself, and so her first story, 'Muldertorture' was born.
A brief foray into Highlander fanfic led to the discovery that people were
even horribler to Methos, so in order to redress the balance she wrote
'Methostorture.' So began a career of writing silly parodies which
has lasted more or less to this very day.
It must be admitted that she has written a few serious
Mulder/Skinner pieces. However her longest work to date is the convoluted
'Rapture', a story of sarcastic, big-nosed angst involving Mulder and Methos,
in which only moderately horrible things happened to both of them.
Most of the
rest of her stuff, including the 'Torture' series
and the Spotters' Guides to common Mulders and Kryceks, is just plain silly.
She is also trying to write a proper novel. Reader, don't hold your
breath.
Recently real life has intervened, and her most recent
project has been creating the props for an open-air production of Macbeth.
This is tougher than it sounds. If you don't believe that, you try
making a tiger's chaudron from a piece of sponge and some poster paints.
The production has
now completed its two week run without anybody getting
stabbed or anything valuable getting lost, (although it did rain several
times,) and as of last week, her writing career has resumed.
Wombat is involved in charity work, most notably as a volunteer at the newly founded American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Mulders. Her fanfic, for those readers who have made it down this far, can be found at: http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/drive/xsi35/fanfic1.shtml
