Note: I was just thinking on the long bus journey I had this morning and this is what came out of my head. It doesn't really have any kind of structure, I was just thinking.


For Jonathan

You were my first crush
and my first love
such love as a 13 year can give
someone she never met
I know you are gone now
but to me you are still here
you are in the pictures on my wall
you are in the light of the smile
that may never reach my eyes
I would have liked to have known you
if only for a minute
I know I'll never get that chance now
I hope you are happy now
and at peace now
I wish your star had shone brighter
so everyone could have seen you sparkle
could have seen you
I dreamed one day I would marry you
a silly schoolgirl fantasy
I could not shake with age
but now you are with the angels
I hope they take care of you
and even though I know you are gone
to me you are still here
I look at the pictures on my wall
and I know
you will always be my first crush
and my very first love
