Holly's Song
by Mark W.Biggs
There was once a girl that i knew,
who was merely one in a great few.
Never one to avoid being jolly,
this girl with a lovely face was called Holly.
More and more, she seemed like the girl next door,
little did anyone know that her self esteem was actually poor.
By and by, she clinged to large fame,
but through it all, she was really clinging to steep shame.
Throughout her life, she had many people to love,
many of them she thought of like a little dove.
For her, they were mainly her only dawn,
for this she realized on the day they were gone.
Although she thought that she had plenty to give,
she now realized that she had very little to live.
She then realized that all her life was was merely a pawn,
hence the people who tried to convince her that life must go on.
We didn't realize that she would purposelly cause her own death,
until we eventually saw her take her final breath.
Even though her thoughts were always hazily slanted,
she always knew never to fully take life for granted.
In our eyes, she was gone within a whist,
without us knowing what we had truly missed.
By and by, we'll always think of our one great folly,
but for me, it will always lie within a girl named Holly.
"The rain has fallen
and has wet the ground again,
while others have stayed dry."
