Hide and Seek

I watch them each day playing their game.
A game like the one I played as a girl.
We called it hide-and-seek.
But they play it differently.
They are hiding but not seeking.
Not seeking the thing they both want.
It has many names.
Completion.
Acceptance.
Unity.
Understanding.
But I know it under a different name.
Love.
They've loved others and been slapped in the face.
They know they love each other but they're afraid.
So I watch them each day.
Each trying to hide his feelings from the other.
Each foolishly believing that no one else sees it.
I think I'll go down and sing tonight.
I'll sing a song of revelation.
Maybe that'll convince them to stop hiding and start seeking.
