Reflection
by Jin Katkin
Never was there a time in which I doubted
The elders whom I held in high esteem.
For they have told me time and time on end:
Hold logic and be logical indeed.
Time passes, and events have forced a change;
My answer lies not at home, nor on Earth.
The accuracy of my thoughts has waned—
Can logic be the causing of this dearth?
To save my life, is that a crime worth jail?
To deviate and save a friend, so wrong?
Your pride forbids my help, defense and bail
Illegal, yes, but t’hy’la, I am strong.
Would you sigh gently into that good night,
Who won against the dying of my light?
