This is the hero of the series. Silent, appearing to be cold and unfeeling. But there's a deep pain here and need for revenge. I've always thought it was a warrior trait that until revenge was had and scores were settled that little else was considered. What do you all think??Name: Ran 'Aya' Fujimiya
Age: 20
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Violet
Birthday: July 4
Codename: Abyssinian
Weapons: Katana
Flower: Rose (Though his name actually means Orchid.)Aya wears a long gold earring in one ear that resembles an exclaimation mark as a rememberance of his sister. Aya-chan has the other earring in her hand. She is lying in a coma after being struck in a hit and run by Reiji Takatori. Sadly enough it is the birthday present that Ran/Aya bought for her at a bazar on the day of their parent's death and the day that she was struck by Reiji Takatori's car.
In the anime episodes Ran promised his sister Aya at her bedside that she would never be forgotten. To achieve this he took his sister's name. He continued to use it even after getting his revenge so I assume he intended to keep it until she woke up from her coma. Yohji hears Ran mumble the name Aya in his sleep on the first morning after Ran joins Weiß and calls him that. Ran never corrected him and so Ran/Aya was born (this comes from Yanagi-Sen and is apparently part of the early manga or one of the dramatic CDs.).
Aya has a major hate on for the Takatori clan because of what happened to his sister and because on the same day his parents were killed. From the episodes it almost seems as if his parents were already dead when he and Aya-Chan returned home from the bazar. An explosive device was set to cover the fact. The murder was ordered by Reiji Takatori in order to frame Aya's Father for embezzelment which Takatori was quilty of. The tension between he and Omi after they discover that the youngest member is actually a Takatori was pretty bad. Though Omi has to accept a bit of that blame, Aya was still harsher on him than was technically necessary. Aya has a real problem seeing past his own pain sometimes to see the pain and motivation in others. Then at other times he seems very empathetic and supportive, it seems to vary according to the innocence of the other person in the situation.
Before joining Weiß, Aya was a member of two other groups. His first group was killed after a mission failed. Actually it is discovered later that one of the members had turned traitor joining the darker side of the criminal world. The head of that group also survived but remained hidden and out of sight until late in the series when he came out of hiding to reek havoc on just about everybody, bad guys and good guys. Aya was still only like 18 or so at the time so he was pretty devastated. It could explain why he is so stand-offish and cold at first towards the members of Weiß. Fear of that happening again and being hurt.
Aya was loaned to another group while one of it's members recovered from a serious injury after the demise of his first group. Apparently the second group would have liked to have kept him if they'd had the extra need. But also they were a no kill group which didn't fit with Aya's revenge plans. So he ended up with Weiß which was a group that fit into that 007 Bond situation. ie They were sent on the licenced to kill jobs
Though Omi is the brains, Aya is the leader of Weiß. Also Aya is the last member to join Weiß, Yohji, Ken and Omi already being established in the shop and the group. In fact Aya's introduction to the group wasn't perfect as Ken thought he was a bad guy and attacked him knocking him unconcious. Not an auspicious way to start but it obviously all worked out in the end.
