RACHEL STRONACH (Geo^G1) d. after 1810 but before 1814; m. OLDHAM GATES, Jr. s/o Oldham Gates; b. ca. 1765; d. 23 Jun 1850, age 85 years. (He m. (2) Eleanor Slocum, d/o John).

1. GEORGE GATES; b. 1807; m. LOUISA LANDERS, d/o Isaac

2. RACHEL GATES; b. ca. 1810; d. 9 Apr 1888, age 78 years; m. SAMUEL BOWLBY, s/o Richard; b. 6 Feb 1794

Note:
Oldham Gates Jr. had at least 8 children by his second wife, Eleanor. Eleanor's eldest daughter, Lavinia Gates, b. 3 Jan 1815, was married to Samuel Bowlby's brother, John W. Bowlby. This is confirmed by Mr. Donald Bowlby, West Paradise, NS, who is researching the Bowlby family history with his son, Ewart Bowlby. Mr. Donald Bowlby also said that their family tradition says the wives of the two brothers were half sisters.
