Solace
by
Jane Aldred
Victoria sat on the bed in her cell and stared at the same walls she
had
been staring at for months. She was a person who valued
her freedom and
this confinement was just to much to bare. The familiar knot of
rage and
bitterness welled up inside her chest as she thought of the man who had
put
her in this hell hole. She laid back on the bed and and closed her eyes
hearing the last words they'd spoken to each other:
"If you love me you'll let me go!"
"I'm sorry"
"All you have to tell them is that I died out there in the blizzard;
they
won't ask any questions. After everything calms down we
can be together the
way we were meant to be!"
"No, I can't"
"Please don't do this to me!!-To US!!!"
But he just put his hand around her arm and didn't let go until he handed
her over to the cops.
Did those three hellish days in the snow mean nothing to him??
She had bared
her soul and he had given her his heart, but none of that mattered now,
did it?
He had made his choice and and he would pay for it. She would make
sure of
that.
