My Present!
No, YOU aren't my present - I'm talking about time here.
I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest after 15 years living in
Southern California. Talk about culture shock. Or maybe that should be "weather
shock." I was bored with only have two seasons in So Cal - cool summer
and hot summer, so I'm looking forward to four seasons again. Though my
closet is telling me that it is a little unprepared for temps below, say, 60
degrees. My two hapless felines, unable to express a preference one way or
another, are getting their first real winter coats. (I don't even want to
think about when they start shedding in Spring... <shudder>) They flew
up here on Alaska Airlines (which has an excellent record for transporting
animals), and my folks got the dubious honor of picking them up. (Me, two
cats, in a car, for two days? EEK!) According to Mom, all she and Dad saw
when they arrived to pick them up were the two purple cages with two sets of
enormous eyes lurking within.
I'm still sorting out the pile o' papers I brought with me - filing is
not one of my strong points. Okay, it doesn't even really qualify as a
weak point. I just got a slightly used four-drawer file cabinet though, so
I'm filled with purpose. At this rate, I might get the rest of my filing
done by... oh... say Christmas? 2000? Once the place is spiffied up, I'm
going to take some pictures of the inside of the house since I've gotten
several requests to see the final results.
